A "pending" charge before the tow
That's the hold, placed when the company accepts. It reserves the quoted amount and isn't a charge. It becomes the real charge when the job completes; if the job is cancelled before the truck is on its way, it's released. Banks show released holds for a few days — they drop off, they don't post.
A $0 or $1 line
Some banks show a temporary $0–$1 authorization when a card is saved. It never posts.
The card was declined
Usually the bank blocking an unfamiliar merchant. Call the number on the card, then try again from the quotes page. A different card works too — the request stays open while quotes are valid.
Two charges on one job
Look at the amounts. One is the tow, the other is an add-on you approved on scene or a tip — both are charged separately by design, and both are on your receipt. If the two amounts are the same and there's only one job on your receipt, email us; that's a duplicate we'll fix.
The hold didn't release after a cancellation
Releases are instant on our side; banks take 3–10 business days to show them. If it's still there after ten business days, send support@towhub.co the job number and the last four digits of the card.
The charge doesn't match the quote
Open the receipt: every line is itemized, including add-ons you approved and a late-cancellation fee if there was one. If something's there you didn't agree to, open a dispute from the tracking page — within 30 days.
